Asia Song Beast

Taiwanese fans were treated to a feast of Korean idols at the Dream of Asia concert held last night on the 22 January at Banqiao Stadium. MBLAQ, 4minute, BEAST, 2PM and Super Junior each performed 5 songs, accompanied with a short talk and interview session.

MBLAQ kicked off the concert with their debut single, "Oh Yeah". Even though Joon coughed constantly throughout their time on stage, he still managed to deliver a flawless performance and maintain an enthusiastic presence through the interview. The boys also performed "Cry", "Stay", "You’re My +" followed by "Y".

4minute started the second act with "Muzik", followed by "Huh". They also performed "What A Girl Wants", "I My Me Mine" and finished up with "Hot Issue". The girls mentioned an interest in visiting Jiufen and also in meeting tall, dark, sexy Taiwanese men during their trip.

BEAST exploded on to stage with "Special" and proceeded with an adrenaline pumped act of "Breath", "Shock" and "Beautiful". The boys also performed one of their ballad songs, called "Oasis". Unfortunately, Junhyung was also unwell, looking pale and remaining silent for the most part during the interview and talk segment.

2PM delivered an amazing performance, despite the absence of Taecyeon who was unable to attend due to a conflict with his filming for the drama, "Dream High". Concert-goers were consoled with a personal video message from the 2PM member, who apologized and asked for their understanding. The boys performed "I’ll Be Back", "Again and Again", "Heartbeat", "I Hate You", and "10 out of 10". Chansung took over most of Taecyeon’s roles, with Junho substituting in "Heartbeat". In their interview, the boys were taught the Chinese New Year greeting of "Gong Xi Fa Cai, Hong Bao Na Lai" (meaning "happy new year, and please hand over the red packet (of money)") and delighted fans with a traditional Korean New Year’s bow.

Despite excellent performances from all groups, Super Junior was undoubtedly the star of the show. Super Junior was voted Taiwan’s No. 1 Most Popular Group, and that was evident in the ocean of blue at the concert. With the exception of Siwon, who was also unable to attend due to a clash in filming, the boys launched their act with "BONAMANA".

In the interview, Donghae was praised for his Chinese, while Leeteuk was teased for his referral to a piece of paper on which he had written a smorgasbord of Chinese phrases. Shindong and Eunhyuk also drove the crowd to laughter with their banter on the word "dui" (which means "that’s right" or occasionally used as "yes").

Yesung took center stage with his solo for the "Cinderella’s Sister" OST, called "It Has To Be You". He was then joined by Sungmin, Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Donghae for "In My Dream", before the boys exploded into "Rokkugo". The night culminated with the world famous, "Sorry Sorry".
